single or double?

Kang Hyoni was recently spotted braving the cold in New York City by RUSSH's resident bloggers! Look at those little ribbons on her woolen sleeves! How adorable! But it isn't as adorable as her  mischievous close-lipped grin. She is...too pretty for words. I admit. Azure and emerald eyes with deep folds may not entice me as much as single-lidded cat like eyes does. If I have to choose between a Caucasian model and an Asian model, I nearly always go for the Asian lass. Most likely, the same applies for me when it comes to men. You can think of me as biased, sure, I'll admit that as well. I wasn't as enthusiastic about my Asian culture when I was younger. There was a time I wished I had deep double eyelids and luscious eyelashes (like my mother) and silvery blonde locks instead of straight brown black hair. But in recent years, especially after falling for late Korean model Daul Kim, my perceptions and preferences have changed dramatically. The fashion industry is becoming more appreciative of the beauty and appeal in Asian looks. It definitely helped me feel a lot more secure about myself which is a good thing. I do take much pride when Asian models grace the covers of magazine spreadsand campaigns. BUT, I honestly think the industry is still rather limiting. Look at all the professional Asian models...don't you think pretty Asians have been stereotyped with having single lidded cat eyes and high cheekbones? At the same time, Asian women are causing a worldwide trend by opting for cosmetic surgery to get double eye lids! Well, isn't it just darn ironic? When I asked my mom how she felt if I were to get incisions done, she easily dismissed me with Are you crazy? You have so much money to waste?!! When you're old, it's all gonna sag anyway. Don't waste money like that, you should give me instead. (Ahh, I just love my mom. Fierce, painfully realistic and unflinchingly honest - very Chinese).

On a side note, it will be my birthday tomorrow. Not as hyped as I thought I'd be though. Will Vodka Redbull and a couple of Tequila shots be able to get me going like no tomorrow? kkk~
